Physical Therapist

Duties

• Provide Physical Therapy service in support of Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune and assigned to the Department of Rehabilitation Service.
• Responsible for the full range of provision of physical therapy patient care, including comprehensive evaluations of patients using screening and diagnostic testing, and associated administrative duties.
• Perform duties outside of the full range of treatment as described above by performing the more complex physician extender duties.
• Develop and implement complex, goal-oriented treatment plans for patients presenting with a multiplicity of dysfunction and impairments in physical, functional, and adaptive areas.
• Apply the use of therapeutic modalities and new integrative techniques and technologies for the purpose of evaluation and ongoing treatment.
• Provide oversight to the PTA as required by the state practice and consistent with recommendations of American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Responsible for proving new techniques and modality proficiency by studying current literature.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position requires the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
• Provides inpatient physical therapy coverage on an as-needed basis, including participation in weekend rotation, and maintains competency to evaluate and treat patients in inpatient and acute-care settings.

Basic Requirements for Physical Therapist:

Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0633 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing pelvic floor physical therapy patient services; providing education or consultation to physical therapy patients; and developing physical therapy treatment plans for patients with pelvic floor disorders.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
