Standard Job Description

You will be the Lead Rework/Repair Manufacturing Engineer for the C-130 Operations Team

Your responsiblities will include:

  • Leading and guiding significant rework activies as needed across build teams
  • Hands on training and development with mechanics/manufacuturing engineers
  • Coordination with EDTI (enterprise drilling and technology integration) as needed for standard tooling development, Kit Development and design efforts to assist with Rework/Repair
  • Development of R&R Guides and repair instructions
  • Leadership briefings across orgs
  • Serve as Liaison with Corrective Action Lead to eliminate reoccurrences
  • Collaboration with production operations, MRB, design engineering, quality engineering, supplier quality engineering, M&P, Tool Services/Tool Repair and any other organization that is a key stakeholder to ensure we do rework/repair efforts efficenctly, safely and right the first time.
  • Development and Coordination of OSRs (Operations Safety Reports) and HRAs (Hazardous Risk Assessments)
  • Collaboration across programs and functions to develop best practices around rework/repair
  • Collaboration with Manufacturing Technology to develop and pilot new tools/automated equipment to support rework or improved inspection technology.


This role is a key enabler to reduce and mitigate SRR (Scrap, Rework and Repair) hours and ensure safety

Areas of Coverage:

C-130 Build Teams (FWD, AFT, Wing shops, Mid, Mate, Final Assembly, Paint, Flight Ops), Mod Operations & Feeder Sites as needed .

Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.

Basic Qualifications

  • GD&T Training/Experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read and interprint blueprints/engineering requirements
  • Floor Support experience and the ability to be hands on in the manufacturing operations evironment
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor and develop employees
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics standard tooling to support repairs/rework (Drilling Tools/Bits, Verification Gauges, Part Trimming tools, Clamping Tools, Fastener removal Tools, etc.)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment working cross functionally with other disciplines including: Manufacutring Engineering, Quality Engineering, MRB, Design Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Tool Services/Tool Repair, EDTI and Production Operations Teams.


Desired Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in a technical lead/manufacturing engineering role
  • A Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) Training and demostrated skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues
  • Knowledge of the C-130 Specs, Blueprints and MPS's/PPDs
  • Knowledge of the C-130 standard repairs
  • Supplemental Tool Development/Design to assist with Rework
  • Additive Manufacturing Experience (3D printing)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide succinct and updated reports / summaries for repairs being managed


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00
