Security Specialist

Duties

• Ensure all contingency/readiness plans are current.
• Review changes in policies and regulations.
• Present command position to outside agencies when necessary for coordination, understanding, or to influence changes.
• Serve as the health clinic's liaison with the Pentagon and local agencies during crisis/emergency situations.
• Coordinate with appropriate personnel to support requests to fill external and internal task requests.
• Provide guidance to improve the quality of training.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• This position is designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations.
• This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Implementing security procedures for the command; 2) Managing White House security clearance to ensure there is an adequate inventory of personnel with clearance to support White House task requests; 3) Ensuring all contingency/readiness plans are current, feasible and in accordance with regulatory requirements ; and 4) Advising management on security issues such as suspension, withdrawal or revocation of clearance process. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
