Supervisory Electronics Engineer (Solutions Architect)

Duties

• Provides advice and counsel for all issues pertaining to planning, evaluating, managing, and executing of the Architecture and Engineering branch, including the people, and infrastructure used by various SECWAR customers.
• Supervises, coordinates, and prioritizes the work of a cross-functional team consisting of civilians, military, and contractors and responsible for day-to-day technical support to SECWAR and immediate office.
• Conducts regular meetings, audits, steering boards, configuration management processes, design reviews, and attends conference to maintain understanding of emerging technologies that are needed to address SECWAR's current and future mission needs.
• Develops, executes, and monitors funding requirements for systems supporting the Engineering Branch operations at local and remote sites.
• Serves as a DoW Subject-Matter Expert (SME) on all communications equipment and command and control systems used to support the SecWar, DepSecWar and their Immediate Offices.

Basic Requirements:

For the GS-855 Professional Engineering Series:
Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

• Specified academic courses

In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must also meet the specialized experience.

Specialized Experience:
For the GS-15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-14 if outside the Federal service, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience performing stakeholder relationship building, VIP support, technical management of systems (voice, video, data), and demonstrating a history of rapid delivery of various emerging technologies; AND experience performing in a highly technical role that requires hands on experience with routers, switches, user interfaces, artificial intelligence, firewalls, software development, security compliance, and encryption devices.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or higher grade in Federal Service.** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.
