This role will analyze financial records, test internal controls, adhering to established auditing standards, and applying business process improvement techniques to promote efficiency.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform financial statement audits, including conducting internal control testing and providing informed assessments of financial compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct historical comparative analysis of financial records to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Support financial processes for our client, leveraging an understanding of defense-related financial operations.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively to complete analyses, reconcile discrepancies, and deliver data-driven visualizations using features such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, slicers, Power Query, and macros.
- Apply business process improvement techniques to optimize workflows and establish operational efficiencies across financial and auditing functions.
- Maintain proficiency in the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) to ensure audit compliance.
- Provide thorough documentation and reports to ensure compliance with auditing standards and facilitate seamless communication with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain process improvements aligned with the organization's objectives.

Qualifications

- Minimum 3+ years of experience performing financial statement audits, including internal control testing.
- Proven ability to conduct historical comparative analysis of financial records.
- Experience supporting government financial and audit operations.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including demonstrated expertise in:
- Formulas such as VLOOKUP and complex reconciliations
- PivotTables and slicers for dynamic data presentation and analysis
- Power Query and macros for automation and data manipulation
- Advanced charting and data visualization
- Experience implementing business process improvements to streamline operations and increase effectiveness.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and GAGAS.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DoD and Department of Navy-specific financial systems, such as:
- Standard Accounting, Budgeting, and Reporting System (SABRS)
- SABRS Management Analysis Retrieval Tool (SMARTS)
- Advanced Analytics (ADVANA) or Jupiter
- Navy Enterprise Resource Management (NERP)
- SharePoint
- Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:
- Professional office environment, with the ability to work onsite in the main office.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
