Job Description
Koniag IT Systems, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator to support KITS and our government customer Washington, DC. The position is remote. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

The Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator provides hands-on technical administration and support for CLIENT's enterprise Microsoft infrastructure environment. This individual supports the daily administration, configuration, and sustainment of Microsoft 365, Azure Government, Microsoft Entra identity, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and endpoint management platforms across CLIENT's enterprise environment.
This role requires solid technical proficiency across the Microsoft enterprise stack, the ability to work independently on routine and moderately complex Microsoft infrastructure tasks, and the capacity to support escalation and coverage continuity within the Microsoft infrastructure team. The Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator contributes to the delivery of a well-administered, secure, and sustained Microsoft enterprise infrastructure that supports CLIENT's mission and end-user productivity.
This individual must demonstrate strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to security and compliance in all Microsoft infrastructure activities. While escalating complex issues to the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator as appropriate, this individual is expected to resolve the majority of day-to-day Microsoft infrastructure tasks autonomously and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
Microsoft 365 Administration:
- Provide daily administration and support for CLIENT's Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and associated services
- Execute Microsoft 365 configuration changes, service requests, and user administration tasks in accordance with established procedures and ITIL 4 change management practices
- Monitor Microsoft 365 service health and performance, escalating issues to the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator as appropriate
- Maintain Microsoft 365 configuration documentation and update knowledge base articles as needed
- Support Microsoft 365 license management and user provisioning/deprovisioning activities
- Assist in planning and executing Microsoft 365 service updates and feature rollouts under the direction of the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator
Azure Government & Entra Identity Support:
- Support administration of CLIENT's Microsoft Azure Government environment, including Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), user and group management, and role assignments
- Assist in the administration of Microsoft Entra identity services, including multi-factor authentication, conditional access policies, and single sign-on configurations
- Support Zero Trust Architecture implementation through proper application of Entra identity policies and least-privilege access controls
- Manage routine Azure Government administration tasks, including resource management, access control, and policy compliance monitoring
- Coordinate with the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator on complex Azure Government and Entra identity tasks
- Support FedRAMP compliance activities for Azure Government services in alignment with CLIENT cybersecurity policies
Endpoint Management & Security:
- Support administration of Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) for device enrollment, compliance policy enforcement, and application deployment
- Assist in managing Microsoft Defender for Endpoint configurations and supporting endpoint security incident response
- Apply and maintain endpoint configuration baselines and compliance policies aligned with NIST SP 800-53 and CLIENT cybersecurity requirements
- Support patch management and software deployment processes for Windows endpoints
- Coordinate with the NOC and Service Desk teams on endpoint-related incidents and escalations
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving endpoint management issues, escalating complex problems to the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator
Exchange Online & Teams Administration:
- Support daily administration of Exchange Online, including mailbox management, distribution groups, mail flow monitoring, and basic transport rule management
- Assist in Microsoft Teams administration, including Teams policies, user configuration, and meeting settings
- Support email security configurations and monitoring, including anti-spam and anti-phishing policy management
- Coordinate with the A/V Lead Systems Integrator on Microsoft Teams Rooms configuration and support as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine Exchange Online and Teams incidents, escalating complex issues to the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator
Security, Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all Microsoft infrastructure administration activities comply with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and CLIENT cybersecurity policies
- Apply least-privilege and separation-of-duties principles to all Microsoft infrastructure configurations and access management activities
- Support Zero Trust Architecture principles across Microsoft platforms under the direction of the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator
- Assist in security assessment activities, audit evidence collection, and remediation of Microsoft-related findings
- Adhere to all CLIENT policies regarding handling of CUI, SBU, and FOUO information
- Promptly report suspected or confirmed security incidents involving Microsoft infrastructure per CLIENT procedures
Incident Management & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve routine and moderately complex Microsoft infrastructure incidents independently
- Escalate complex or cross-domain Microsoft infrastructure incidents to the Senior Microsoft Infrastructure Administrator as appropriate
- Manage Microsoft infrastructure incident records in the Government ITSM platform, ensuring accurate and complete documentation
- Coordinate with the NOC, Service Desk, and other functional teams to resolve cross-functional Microsoft incidents
- Follow and contribute to Microsoft infrastructure troubleshooting runbooks and knowledge base articles
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on enterprise Microsoft infrastructure administration experience
- Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra in a Federal or comparable enterprise environment
- Experience supporting Microsoft endpoint management using Microsoft Intune
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture principles as applied to Microsoft platforms
- Experience in a Federal or private-sector enterprise environment of comparable scale and complexity
- Demonstrated ability to independently resolve routine and moderately complex Microsoft infrastructure issues
- Experience with FedRAMP-authorized Microsoft services and Federal security compliance requirements
Technical Expertise:
- Solid proficiency in:
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)
- Microsoft Azure Government and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
- Microsoft Entra identity management and conditional access
- Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) - device management and compliance
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365
- Exchange Online mail flow, security, and administration
- Role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege access management
- Working knowledge of:
- Zero Trust Architecture principles and OMB M-22-09
- NIST SP 800-53 security controls as applied to Microsoft platforms
- FedRAMP requirements for Microsoft Azure Government
- PowerShell scripting for Microsoft 365 and Azure administration
- ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow)
- ITIL 4 change and incident management practices
- Enterprise network fundamentals relevant to Microsoft infrastructure
