Physical Therapist

Duties

• Provide pelvic floor physical therapy patient care and management and provision of pelvic floor physical therapy services.
• Modalities used in treatment include electric stimulation, ultrasound, cryotherapy, thermal therapy, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, biofeedback training, etc.
• Independently evaluate referred clients for diagnosis and treatment planning and determines current levels of functioning.
• Coordinate client's pelvic floor physical therapy schedule with other clinic providers, surgeons, and other medical specialists so that quality of care is maintained.
• Provide direct therapy, consultation, monitoring, and co-teaching models of services to patients with identified pelvic floor physical therapy needs, as indicated by evaluation.
• Counsel service members, unit commanders, staff members and other community agencies on available services, procedures, and administrative requirements.
• Analyze and interpret workload data, other management, and clinical data, and recommends changes.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position requires the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

Basic Requirements for Physical Therapist:

Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0633 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing pelvic floor physical therapy patient services; providing education or consultation to physical therapy patients; and developing physical therapy treatment plans for patients with pelvic floor disorders.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
