SAP Transportation/Event Management SME - REMOTE

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a SAP Transportation/Event Management SME to support a company focused on modernizing and enhancing Department of Defense transportation and logistics operations through enterprise SAP solutions. This position is remote. The SAP Transportation/Event Management SME will serve as the lead functional expert responsible for designing, configuring, and optimizing SAP Transportation Management event visibility capabilities within a large-scale logistics transformation program. This role will improve transportation milestone tracking, exception management, operational visibility, and mission readiness across complex multimodal transportation operations. Help drive the future of DoD logistics by delivering enhanced transportation visibility and data-driven operational excellence.

Responsibilities for the SAP Transportation/Event Management SME include:

• Serve as the functional lead for SAP TM Event Management capabilities, including milestone tracking, event monitoring, exception management, alerts, notifications, and transportation visibility.
• Translate operational and business requirements into functional specifications, process flows, user stories, and SAP TM solution designs aligned with enterprise architecture.
• Support integration efforts across SAP TM, EWM, MM, SD, GTS, reporting platforms, master data, and external transportation partners.
• Validate system configurations through testing, defect resolution, deployment readiness activities, and operational acceptance processes.
• Develop training materials, SOPs, functional documentation, and recommendations to drive user adoption, data quality, and continuous process improvements.

Required Qualifications for the SAP Transportation/Event Management SME include:

• 10+ years of experience supporting SAP, transportation management, logistics, supply chain operations, or enterprise business systems.
• 5+ years of experience with SAP Transportation Management (TM), transportation visibility, event management, milestone tracking, exception handling, and operational reporting.
• Strong experience translating business requirements into functional designs, system configurations, integration requirements, test scenarios, and process documentation.
• Experience supporting end-to-end transportation processes including planning, execution, carrier coordination, freight order management, shipment visibility, and exception resolution.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• DoD 8140 Level II Certification required.
• Experience supporting federal or DoD SAP implementations, modernization efforts, sustainment activities, or large enterprise deployments.
• Ability to collaborate with government stakeholders, technical teams, architects, and cross-functional delivery organizations.
• Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one preferred.
