Job Description

Overview

ISHPI is seeking an experienced Senior Windows Endpoint Engineer – MECM/SCCM & Test Lab to support enterprise Windows endpoint testing, validation, and test lab operations within a Federal IT environment in Florence, Kentucky.

Responsibilities

This is a Windows endpoint engineering position—not a traditional application QA, web testing, or SDET role. Candidates should have hands-on enterprise experience with Windows 10/11 endpoint engineering, MECM/SCCM, operating system deployment/imaging, software package validation, Group Policy, drivers/firmware, and endpoint configuration testing.

This is a hands-on senior technical position responsible for validating Windows endpoint images and upgrades, software packages, patches, configuration changes, Group Policy, hardware/peripherals, drivers, firmware, and related endpoint changes before pilot and enterprise production deployment. The engineer will develop and execute structured tests, troubleshoot failures, document defects and results, retest corrective actions, and provide technical recommendations regarding production readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, execute, and document comprehensive Windows endpoint hardware, software, configuration, and deployment validation within an enterprise IT test lab.
  • Test and validate enterprise Windows 10/11 endpoint images, operating system configurations, and in-place OS upgrades before production deployment.
  • Validate MECM/SCCM software packages and deployment configurations, including installation, upgrade, uninstall, rollback, detection, execution context, reboot behavior, and compatibility.
  • Test endpoint imaging and deployment processes, including MECM/SCCM Operating System Deployment (OSD), task sequences, boot images, driver packages, and related configurations.
  • Perform application compatibility testing across supported enterprise Windows configurations and identify issues that could affect pilot or production deployment.
  • Test and validate Windows patches, software updates, security updates, and releases prior to enterprise deployment.
  • Test Group Policy (GPO), configuration baselines, endpoint security settings, and other Windows configuration changes.
  • Validate drivers, firmware/BIOS, hardware configurations, and peripheral compatibility within representative enterprise endpoint configurations.
  • Develop and execute structured test plans, test cases, procedures, acceptance criteria, and validation activities based on technical and operational requirements.
  • Document test results, defects, failures, configuration issues, reproduction procedures, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot failed tests, package installations, imaging/deployment failures, compatibility issues, and endpoint configuration problems.
  • Perform root-cause analysis in collaboration with software deployment, endpoint engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and support teams.
  • Retest corrected packages, images, configurations, drivers, or deployments to verify successful remediation.
  • Support automation of endpoint testing, validation, troubleshooting, and reporting using PowerShell or related technologies.
  • Ensure tested configurations comply with applicable security, configuration-management, change-management, and release-management standards.
  • Maintain test procedures, technical documentation, test records, defect information, configuration information, and validation results.
  • Provide technically sound go/no-go and production-readiness recommendations, including identified risks, unresolved defects, and required corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement of endpoint test lab procedures, standards, automation, and validation processes.

Qualifications

Education: HS Diploma or GED required. Baccalaureate Degree in Technical field of study preferred.

Experience: 5–8+ years of experience in enterprise Windows endpoint engineering, desktop engineering, endpoint test lab, deployment engineering, or endpoint validation environments. The ideal candidate will combine strong Windows endpoint engineering knowledge with a disciplined approach to testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and production-readiness validation.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting enterprise Windows 10/11 endpoints.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Windows endpoint imaging, Operating System Deployment (OSD), task sequences, or related Windows provisioning/deployment technologies.
  • Experience testing and validating enterprise software packages and endpoint deployments.
  • Experience validating software installation, upgrade, uninstall, rollback, reboot behavior, and application compatibility.
  • Experience testing Windows patches, updates, releases, drivers, firmware, or endpoint configuration changes.
  • Experience with Group Policy (GPO), Windows configuration baselines, or enterprise endpoint configuration management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, document, troubleshoot, and retest endpoint, deployment, configuration, and software-package failures.
  • Experience developing or executing structured test plans, test cases, procedures, and technical validation documentation.
  • Strong Windows endpoint troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of enterprise endpoint security, configuration management, change management, and release management practices.
  • Ability to independently evaluate technical results and make recommendations regarding production deployment readiness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical findings, risks, defects, and recommendations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with endpoint engineering, software deployment, cybersecurity, infrastructure, service desk, and other technical teams.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Florence, Kentucky.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience supporting the U.S. Department of the Treasury or Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced experience with MECM/SCCM software deployment, application/package management, OSD, task sequences, boot images, and driver packages.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11 Enterprise imaging, deployment, and in-place upgrade validation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, co-management, or other Microsoft endpoint-management technologies.
  • Experience testing and validating Active Directory Group Policy (GPO), configuration baselines, and endpoint security settings.
  • Experience with BIOS/firmware, driver, hardware, and peripheral compatibility validation.
  • Experience with enterprise patch-management and vulnerability-remediation validation.
  • Experience using PowerShell for endpoint engineering, troubleshooting, validation, or test-process automation.
  • Experience working within formal Federal or enterprise change, release, incident, and configuration-management processes.
  • Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, or other endpoint/infrastructure certifications are preferred but not required.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on senior Windows endpoint engineer capable of independently testing and validating complex endpoint changes in a representative enterprise environment. The individual should be equally comfortable troubleshooting a failed Windows deployment or MECM package and developing the structured test evidence necessary to determine whether a change is ready for production.
