This role is essential to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring that Lockheed Martin Aeronautics-Greenville facilities meet the highest fire-prevention and protection standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect & Enforce
- Conduct routine and spot inspections of all Lockheed Martin Aeronautics-Greenville facilities for compliance with fire, life-safety, OSHA, and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) codes.
- Enforce company policies and applicable codes, correcting violations promptly.
- Audit Support
- Facilitate audits for local authorities, insurance underwriters, and DCMA representatives as needed.
- Egress & Access
- Verify proper maintenance and operation of exits, exit doors, fire escapes, and ensure all egress routes are free of obstructions.
- Review storage practices; correct conditions where material placement exceeds fire-code limits or impedes firefighting equipment, exits, fire doors, or sprinklers.
- Flammable-Liquid Management
- Inspect flammable-liquid storage to confirm quantities, containers, and locations meet safety standards.
- Ensure quick-burning combustibles (e.g., lumber, cardboard, paper, packing material) are stored within prescribed limits.
- Identify chemical hazards and verify required safeguards are applied.
- Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate logs of inspections, fire-protection equipment, and identified hazards for each building.
- Contract Oversight
- Supervise contracted fire-prevention services to ensure performance aligns with standards.
- Agency Coordination
- Accompany external inspectors during site visits.
- Fire-Extinguisher Program
- Administer the fire-extinguisher program in accordance with NFPA 10.
- Manage training, documentation, and placement of extinguishers for all required personnel.
- Evacuation Drills
- Plan, coordinate, and execute evacuation drills per applicable standards.
- Maintain up-to-date facility evacuation maps and designate assembly areas.
- Safety Advisement
- Provide guidance on safety methods, company rules, and relevant building-inspection codes, drawing on the National Board of Fire Underwriters and NFPA standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Experienced Fire Prevention/Fire Protection Professional
- 3 yrs or more experience in building fire code enforcement
- Working knowledge of fire-insurance carrier procedures, NFPA codes, OSHA regulations, and local fire codes.
- Strong analytical and observational abilities to identify hazards and enforce compliance.
- Excellent communication skills for delivering fire-safety education and coordinating with internal teams and external agencies
- Ability to maintain detailed records and manage training programs.

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
