Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support the sustainment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of secure classified communications environments. This role requires a hands-on technical professional with expertise across networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration who can support mission-critical infrastructure within highly secure environments.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience supporting complex enterprise networks, security appliances, virtualization platforms, and identity management solutions while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity and configuration management requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide ongoing sustainment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of secure enterprise network environments.
Support virtualized infrastructure and complex multi-platform network architectures.
Deploy, configure, test, and maintain network and security appliances.
Install, configure, and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPN gateways, wireless infrastructure, and related network technologies.
Perform configuration management and ensure operational readiness of network systems.
Investigate and resolve network, system, and security incidents in classified environments.
Conduct engineering evaluations, technology assessments, and performance analysis.
Support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), including certificate deployment, installation, renewal, and lifecycle management.
Configure and troubleshoot IPsec communications and secure routing solutions.
Implement and manage firewall rules, access control lists (ACLs), and network segmentation strategies.
Support Layer 3 and Layer 7 load balancing technologies.
Configure and maintain enterprise routing and switching protocols.
Implement and support 802.1X authentication and network access control solutions.
Utilize network monitoring, management, and security tools to maintain system performance and compliance.
Perform vulnerability scanning and support remediation activities.
Implement system and network hardening procedures in accordance with DoD security standards and best practices.
Develop technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
Participate in on-call support and incident response activities as required.
Required Qualifications
Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Minimum 8 years of Network Engineering experience supporting Cisco and/or Juniper environments.
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting DoD enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of:
Enterprise network architecture
Network and security appliances
Application services
Virtualized environments
Network management and monitoring platforms
Network troubleshooting methodologies
Performance optimization
Proven experience configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of switching technologies and network operations.
Experience with:
Cisco routing and switching
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
Juniper networking solutions
Palo Alto firewalls
Aruba networking technologies
Experience supporting:
Active Directory
Domain Controllers
DNS
DHCP
PKI integration
VMware vSphere environments
Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting secure classified communications environments.
Experience with:
F5 Load Balancers
Wi-Fi technologies including 802.11ac and 802.11ax
PKI and certificate-based authentication solutions
Enterprise network access control implementations
Familiarity with virtualization technologies and systems administration.
Experience supporting U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, or broader Department of Defense missions.
