Job Description
Our client is looking for a Systems Safety Engineer to work on a large-scale defense program. This role is fully onsite.
A secret security clearance is required for this position. Because a secret security clearance is required, citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
Assist with the development and implementation of one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant System Safety Programs.
Perform MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, including:
Task Series 100: Program Management
Task Series 200: Analysis
Task Series 300: Evaluation
Task Series 400: Verification
Assist in analyzing engineering hardware, electrical drawings, and schematics to assess:
Fault tolerance
Latent hazards
Compliance with safety requirements
Support the review of test, operational, and maintenance procedures to ensure appropriate administrative safety controls are implemented.
Work across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to identify, eliminate, or mitigate hazards through effective risk controls.
Develop creative solutions that maximize safety while maintaining critical system performance.
Assist in the development of concise, testable safety requirements and evaluate existing requirements for safety compliance.
Support the execution of System Safety Program and design analyses.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams during program execution to ensure safety requirements are properly integrated.
Interface with key stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
Assist in preparing Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Analyses, and Safety Program Briefings for customer review and approval.
Support program safety briefings during technical reviews and throughout the safety approval process.
Review and interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
Assist in preparing internal and customer-facing reports documenting safety analyses, assessments, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Experience supporting or participating in MIL-STD-882E System Safety Programs.
Understanding of system safety principles, hazard analysis techniques, and risk management methodologies.
Ability to review engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for safety compliance.
Familiarity with system, hardware, software, and test engineering processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience preparing technical reports, presentations, and customer deliverables.
Ability to work effectively with customers, program offices, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
