Job Title: System Safety Engineer
Location: Tewksbury, MA
Duration: 12+ Months Contract-to-Hire
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance
Position Overview
The System Safety Engineer IV will support the development and implementation of system safety programs for complex engineering projects. This role involves performing safety analyses, identifying, and mitigating system risks, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and collaborating with engineering and program teams throughout the system lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement system safety programs and processes.
Perform hazard analyses, risk assessments, and fault analyses.
Evaluate system architectures, hardware, software interfaces, and operational concepts for safety compliance.
Review engineering designs, schematics, and technical documentation.
Support design reviews, technical reviews, and customer meetings.
Prepare safety reports, risk assessments, and hazard tracking documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and program management teams to integrate safety requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM, or a related technical field.
8+ years of engineering experience with strong System Safety Engineering expertise.
Experience performing hazard analyses, risk assessments, and safety evaluations.
Ability to review and assess system designs, schematics, and technical documentation.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or complex engineering programs.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-882 or similar system safety standards.
• Experience with fault tree analysis, FMEA, and hazard tracking systems.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering and risk management principles.
