Job Description

We are seeking a VDI Administrator to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of an enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment utilizing VMware ESXi/vSphere, Omnissa Horizon, 10ZiG thin/zero clients, Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365. This position is ideal for an IT professional looking to develop hands-on experience supporting enterprise virtualization and cloud-based desktop environments.

Required Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in IT systems administration, desktop support, virtualization, or infrastructure operations
  • Basic working knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi and virtual machines
  • Experience administering or troubleshooting Windows 10/11 and Windows Server
  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Experience troubleshooting desktop, network, application, and user-access issues
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or Windows command-line tools
  • Ability to follow established procedures, document work, and escalate complex issues appropriately
  • Strong customer-service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Top Secret Security Clearance


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience supporting Omnissa/VMware Horizon, Horizon Client, Horizon Agent, or virtual desktop pools
  • Experience with 10ZiG or other thin/zero-client technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365
  • Basic understanding of virtual networking, VLANs, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting or automation
  • Exposure to VMware vCenter, Horizon Connection Servers, UAG, App Volumes, or Dynamic Environment Manager
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, ticketing, patching, backup, and configuration-management processes
  • VMware, Microsoft, Azure, CompTIA, or similar industry certifications


Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain VDI infrastructure, desktop pools, virtual machines, and endpoint devices
  • Troubleshoot user connectivity, login, desktop, application, and peripheral issues
  • Perform routine VM, Horizon, Windows, and endpoint administration
  • Assist with desktop image updates, software deployments, patches, and configuration changes
  • Support user accounts, group memberships, permissions, and desktop entitlements
  • Investigate system alerts and performance issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and support records
  • Participate in maintenance activities, system upgrades, testing, and disaster-recovery exercises


Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a hands-on IT professional with a strong troubleshooting mindset who wants to build a career in enterprise VDI and cloud infrastructure. Experience with Horizon is beneficial but not necessarily required if the candidate has solid Windows, VMware, networking, or systems-administration fundamentals and demonstrates the ability and desire to learn.
