Job Description
TMC Technologies is in search of an Automation Engineer who will support the quality assurance of development teams by designing, implementing, and executing automated tests to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and performance of application functionality. This role is ideal for professionals with strong Python skills, effective problem-solving abilities, and clear communication skills suited for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The candidate must be a US citizen and possess a minimum of an active Top Secret clearance to start due to federal contract requirements.
The Automation Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python-based frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and product teams to clarify requirements and ensure complete, traceable test coverage.
- Execute automated and manual test scenarios to validate system functionality, integration, and regression behavior.
- Investigate, document, and track defects; support root-cause analysis and remediation activities.
- Analyze test results and produce clear, actionable reports for stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, standards, and documentation.
- Assist in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to strengthen delivery quality and efficiency.
Job Requirements
US Citizenship and active Top Secret clearance required
Minimum of 2+ years of relevant software development and/or testing experience required
Bachelor's Degree required
Onsite presence in downtown DC 5 days per week
Proficiency in Python (2+ years minimum), with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
Foundational knowledge of software testing principles, QA methodologies, and automation concepts.
Preferred Experience includes:
• Experience with Playwright for browser-based automated testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar).
• Exposure to API testing or additional automation frameworks.
• Understanding of Agile development practices.
