Description

Copperhead Technologies, an operating firm of Command Holdings, is seeking a DevOps Engineer who will lead cloud engineering, DevOps implementation, and systems integration for a federal health IT sustainment program. This role architects and configures a forms-based Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution operating within a Federal Cloud Enterprise environment (e.g., VA's Enterprise Cloud), ensuring secure, compliant, and highly available services that support the exchange of sensitive health information. This position supports a federal government sustainment contract and may require coordination with COTS vendors, government stakeholders, and cross-functional technical teams to ensure continuous, secure, and compliant system operations.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead systems integration efforts with COTS product vendors and other contractors to implement ISO standards, protocols, and integrative technologies across the application stack, including the data access layer, business logic, and data models. The engineer configures and integrates COTS software via API, applying deep systems integration expertise to align the solution with program requirements.

  • Design and configure the solution to operate securely within a Federal Cloud Enterprise, enabling external-facing users to access the system without credentialing by leveraging VA-authorized identity providers, and establishes secure access patterns consistent with federal cloud security and identity management standards.

  • Implement DevOps pipelines and practices that support the secure receipt and exchange of health information, ensuring the architecture segments sensitive data from personally identifying information in accordance with federal privacy requirements.

  • Establish near-real-time system monitoring capabilities to track usage patterns and network traffic, enabling early detection of anomalies and rapid troubleshooting of performance or security issues.

  • Support the achievement and maintenance of an Authority to Operate (ATO) for the COTS product, including any additional systems configuration required to protect sensitive health information collected and processed by the system, and develops and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, including system configuration guides and other resources needed to support ongoing sustainment, knowledge transfer, and audit readiness.

This position is contingent on contract award.
