Job Description

Duties

  • Responsible for the control and coordination of successful management of Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Coordinate with the Certifying Official to ensure requested entitlements are in accordance with the Joint Federal Travel Regulation.
  • Responsible for providing the Lines of Accounting (LOAs) to travel requests as well as manage and maintain traveler profiles, organizational data, and routing lists in the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Provide training to Authorizing Officials and travelers via Teams or deskside.
  • Review all Temporary Duty Travel requests and vouchers to ensure agreement of budgetary account codes, dollar amounts, and compliance with regulations and procedures.
  • Monitor personnel travel card account balances to detect inappropriate cash withdrawals.
  • Serve as liaison between the customer and Defense Travel System (DTS) Help Desk for system issues.
  • Ensure all travel expenses are accounted for, including per diem, lodging, and transportation costs. Maintains DTS reports and financial records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Maintain the Military Treatment Facility's (MTF) Defense Travel System business processes, ensuring it aligns with DoD standards and supports unit readiness and mission needs.
  • Monitor cardholder accounts, ensure timely payments and adjust credit limits as needed.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Financial Management Certification, Level 1.
  • Travel up to 5% may be required.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Skilled qualified typist required.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing travel card applications; utilizing automated systems to initiate and process travel authorizations/vouchers; identifying and resolving issues regarding travel pay in accordance with federal regulations; and assisting in preparing lines of accounting (LOAs) for travel requests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
