Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Conducting patient screenings such as vital signs and/or intake assessment; 2) performs vision and/or audiometry screenings, height/weight measurements; 3) updating patient medical records and providing administrative support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Provide patient screening to obtain and review medical and occupational history.
- Review all pertinent data and determines requirements for ancillary testing and program placement.
- Performs various screenings such as vision, audiometry, vital signs, and review results for completeness and accuracy.
- Documents pertinent data in the medical record and on other documents, as appropriate for the examination being performed.
- Maintains medical records in accordance with applicable directives.
- Provides administrative support, which include; Patient scheduling, compilation of statistical reports, answering telephones, and other administrative related tasks.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Red Cross. Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- This position is designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Incumbent is required to have successfully completed NIOSH approved course in spirometry and received certificate of completion. Refreshing is required every 5 years.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
