SOFTWARE ENGINEER

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Software Engineer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission. The Software Engineer will design, develop, code, test, and debug complex software products, or make significant enhancements to existing software. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with significant experience in developing scalable software applications, with experience in analytics using large data sets. They must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and big data technologies and the proven ability to fashion robust solutions that can manage large data sets. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with a team to analyze existing software applications and tools, and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve system performance and usability. • Design, develop, test, debug, and deploy new software tools that extend or replace existing capabilities. • Advise hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements and works with them to resolve incompatibilities. • Write and update technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, training materials, processes and procedures. • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers and other engineers and analysts. • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. • Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software systems and application issues. • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. • Work alongside other engineers on the team to sustain and advance our organization's capabilities.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, and work/military experience.
• Experience: 2+ years of related experience
• Security clearance level: TS/SCI with Polygraph
• US citizenship required
• Role requirements: • Demonstrated hands-on experience with modern programming languages including Java, JavaScript, and Python. • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing with cloud-based services such as AWS. • Demonstrated hands-on experience with developing and implementing microservices architecture using Spring Boot. • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Linux.
