About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Power Systems Engineer to support high-profile federal, Department of Defense (DoD), and mission-critical infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex electrical power distribution systems, critical facility designs, and advanced infrastructure projects supporting national security objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power system design, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, and experience supporting federal or mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design of electrical power systems, including: Medium- and low-voltage power distribution, Grounding systems, Lightning protection systems, and Mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
- Develop integrated control sequences and schematics for power distribution equipment.
- Prepare and edit technical specifications for electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
- Collaborate directly with government and client subject matter experts to coordinate system design, controls, and integration activities.
- Develop electrical designs from initial site assessments and concept development through final design and construction support.
- Translate client requirements into code-compliant engineering solutions.
- Create and oversee electrical plans, drawings, and details using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
- Perform power system studies utilizing SKM or comparable modeling software.
- Conduct site visits, electrical surveys, and construction-phase inspections.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering deliverables.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Prepare cost estimates and support project budgeting activities.
- Participate in construction administration efforts, including review of RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 6+ years of electrical power systems design experience.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
- Valid driver's license and ability to support site visits as needed.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and applicable industry standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with: Spot networks, Microgrid systems, Electrical commissioning, Lighting design.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense design requirements, including: Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC),
National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience supporting federal, defense, or mission-critical facility projects.
- Telecommunications design experience, including: Network infrastructure, Audio/Visual systems, Electronic security systems.
- Experience supporting engineering proposals and business development efforts.
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
