Electrical Design & Documentation
- Design and document electronic assemblies and system components by developing accurate engineering documentation that supports manufacturing, integration, testing, maintenance, and future system modifications.
- Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, wiring lists, cable drawings, and harness documentation to clearly define electrical connections and ensure systems can be consistently built, installed, tested, and maintained.
- Design and develop custom cable assemblies based on system requirements, electrical specifications, and physical constraints.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation that communicate design requirements clearly to engineering, manufacturing, installation, and program teams.
- Develop facility layout drawings that account for equipment placement, electrical power requirements, HVAC needs, and other infrastructure considerations necessary to support electronic systems.
- Evaluate electrical and mechanical interfaces to ensure electrical designs can be successfully integrated with the overall system.
- Build, inspect, integrate, and test prototype and production electronic assemblies, ensuring hardware is properly configured and performs according to established engineering requirements.
- Support cable and wiring harness fabrication and testing, verifying electrical continuity, configuration, workmanship, and system compatibility.
- Perform electrical integration and system-level validation to identify issues that may not be apparent during individual component testing.
- Troubleshoot hardware and system-level problems using engineering analysis, test data, schematics, instrumentation, and other diagnostic methods to determine the source of failures.
- Conduct failure investigations and root-cause analysis to determine why problems occurred and develop effective corrective actions rather than simply addressing symptoms.
- Recommend design improvements that increase system reliability, maintainability, performance, and overall mission effectiveness.
- Support installation, integration, and testing at customer and test locations, providing hands-on engineering expertise when systems are being assembled, modified, or evaluated.
- Analyze test results and system performance data to verify that equipment meets technical requirements and to provide engineering recommendations when performance falls outside established parameters.
- Maintain material databases and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) records to ensure equipment, components, and associated documentation remain accurately tracked throughout the program lifecycle.
- Support configuration management and asset tracking activities to ensure hardware and engineering changes are properly documented, controlled, and traceable.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, proposals, and Control Account Manager (CAM) inputs to support program planning, engineering decisions, and execution.
- Document engineering findings, test results, and system performance data so technical decisions and system configurations are fully traceable.
- Present engineering findings and recommendations to engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and other stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and program management teams to ensure electrical designs integrate successfully with the complete system.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and keep engineering activities aligned with program objectives.
- Support mechanical assembly and integration activities, taking physical and mechanical constraints into consideration when developing electrical solutions.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support remotely and at customer locations when issues require engineering expertise outside the laboratory or normal development environment.
- Participate in design reviews, integration activities, test events, and customer demonstrations, providing technical insight throughout the system development and deployment process.
- Active Top Secret security clearance required.
- TS/SCI preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Experience with electrical design and schematic capture tools.
- Experience with cable, wiring, and harness design or documentation.
- Experience integrating and testing electronic assemblies and complex electrical systems.
- Demonstrated experience with electrical troubleshooting, failure investigation, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and program teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer and test locations as required.
- Experience supporting defense or aerospace programs.
- Experience working on classified programs or mission-critical systems.
- Hands-on experience with hardware integration, installation, and field testing.
- Experience supporting customer demonstrations, system acceptance testing, or field evaluations.
- Experience with test and training simulators, mission systems, or other complex electronic systems.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and program management organizations.
