USfalcon has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Affairs, SME to support USSTRATCOM at Offutt AFB, NE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide senior-level subject matter expertise on regional political, economic, and security affairs with a focus on European regions in support of USSTRATCOM campaign and risk assessments.
- Support campaign and risk assessments by finding, reading, and comprehending diplomatic, informational, military, and economic information from multiple sources and maintaining working knowledge of applicable policy and strategy guidance.
- Contribute to development and refinement of measurement criteria (measures of effectiveness, measures of performance, scoring standards) used to assess progression or regression toward strategic deterrence objectives in assigned regions.
- Analyze regional developments and global factors (diplomatic, information, military, economic) to determine their impact on the Strategic Environment and strategic deterrence, and document assessment logic for use in campaign and risk assessments.
- Develop, update, and maintain regional components of campaign and risk assessments, synthesizing individual assessment results into key findings and recommendations for senior leaders.
- Produce graduate-level quality briefings and written reports with supporting in-depth analysis and research, following best practices for analytic writing, and brief assessment findings to senior leaders.
- Collaborate with the Office of the Secretary of War, Joint Staff, interagency, international partners, and other Government agencies on regional issues, ensuring USSTRATCOM perspectives are integrated into interagency and CCMD-level assessments and planning.
- Actively and continuously support Joint Force and operations assessments by providing regional context, trend analysis, and recommendations to improve force integration, resource allocation, and strategic alignment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 15 years of interagency and/or Combatant Command desk officer international affairs experience.
- At least 3 years of overseas experience.
- At least 6 years of experience working on European affairs
- Demonstrated ability to produce graduate-level quality analytic briefs and written reports, and to brief findings to senior leaders.
- Demonstrated relevant experience supporting:
- Campaign and Risk Assessments: maintaining policy and strategy knowledge (National Security Strategy, Unified Command Plan, National Defense Strategy, Nuclear Posture Review, National Military Strategy, Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, Global Campaign Plans, Operations Plans, Contingency Plans); developing measurement criteria; analyzing information to determine progression toward Strategic Deterrence; documenting assessment logic; and developing campaign and risk assessments.
- Applying critical thought to identify trends, developing key findings and recommendations, and producing graduate-level briefs and written reports.
- Collaborating with OSW, Joint Staff, interagency, international, and other Government partners; and supporting Joint Force and operations assessments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct experience supporting USSTRATCOM or other Combatant Command campaign planning, regional strategy development, contingency planning, or strategic engagement activities.
- Experience advising General/Flag Officers or Senior Executive Service leaders on regional developments, strategic implications, and assessment findings.
- Experience integrating regional analysis into Joint Force and operations assessments, including identification of cost/benefit of operations, activities, and investments toward shaping the strategic environment.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Master’s degree in International Affairs, Economics, or equivalent field.
