Allyon is actively looking for Cyber Defense Trainers to support mission-critical cybersecurity training operations for the United States Air and Space Force in Colorado Springs by preparing teams to operate effectively in high-responsibility environments.

Before You Apply

  • 3 or more years of cybersecurity experience with a focus on training or course development required.

What You Will Do
  • In this role you will design, develop, and deliver hands-on cyber defense training that simulates real-world threats that are tailored to US Space Force space mission systems and operations. This role builds engaging lab scenarios and courseware, presents technical courseware, and continuously improves training to keep pace with client needs and evolving tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Create new lab scenarios and hands-on exercises that replicate realistic cyber threats and operational conditions.
  • Tailor training to space mission systems/operations and associated cyber terrain (mission-relevant technologies and dependencies).
  • Design and develop courseware using instructional design models, including training objectives, curricula, course outlines, instructor guides, student guides, and job aids.
  • Consult with stakeholders/clients to define learning objectives, training approach, delivery methods, and success criteria.
  • Apply varied instructional techniques to accommodate different learning styles and sustain learner engagement.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure course content and the supporting training range are accurate, relevant, and impactful.
  • Present/instruct developed courseware; facilitate labs, discussions, and assessments.
  • Improve existing course content to keep training current and effective.
  • Use Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) to build polished, usable training materials.
  • Mentor federal clients in best practices for responding to cyber incidents, cyber defense, and mission planning.

Required Qualifications
  • Familiarity with instructional systems design frameworks.
  • Education or qualifying certification/training (one of the following):
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, OR
    • One or more of the Preferred / Qualifying Trainings and Certifications (in lieu of degree) listed below.
  • Preferred / Qualifying training and/or certifications (in lieu of degree):
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (Practical); CompTIA Cloud+; CompTIA PenTest+; CompTIA Security+; GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED); GIAC Continuous Monitoring (GMON); GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA); GIAC Response and Industrial Defense (GRID); GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC); DAU DCWF 511 Cyber Defense Analyst - Intermediate Playlist; CIN A-531-1900 Joint Cyber Analysis Course (JCAC); CIN A-531-4421 Intermediate Cyber Core (CTN); DISA (511) Training DCWF Cyber Defense Analyst; NEC H13A Navy Interactive ON-NET Operator; Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.
  • 3+ years of cybersecurity experience with emphasis on cybersecurity course/training development, plus 3+ years of experience with SIEM/IDS/IPS (Elastic Stack, Splunk, HBSS (Host-Based Security System), or equivalent).
  • 2+ years of experience with Windows and Linux command line, networking, traffic analysis, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • 1+ year of experience working on a cybersecurity team such as a SOC (Security Operations Center), CPT (Cyber Protection Team), or CSSP (Cybersecurity Service Provider).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Local to Colorado Springs, CO and able to work onsite 5 days/week in Colorado Springs, CO.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with the US Air Force, US Space Force, or federal consulting.
  • Completion of formal DoW Instructional Systems Design training or a Basic Instructor Skills Course.
  • Prior technical experience with US Air Force, US Space Force, or other DoD entities.
  • Prior experience with space mission systems.

Your compensation is designed to make a real difference day to day, giving you the support and confidence to do your best work and live well outside of it. The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000. Compensation is determined based on experience, technical expertise, certifications, clearance level, and alignment to mission requirements and work location.
