Job Description

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer provides overall management for program integration/execution requirements for an operational flying aeromedical evacuation squadron (AES).

DUTY 1: Provides administrative oversight of operational unit activities. Plans and organizes activities of the aeromedical evacuation (AE) unit, ensuring that financial management, information systems, training and operations, communications/administration and manpower programs comply with requirements and support mission objectives.

DUTY 2: Establishes and executes mission, organizational, budget/fiscal, staffing, and flying requirements to meet prescribed mission capability.

DUTY 3: Provides oversight for assigned and issued organization equipment.

DUTY 4: Oversees unit aeromedical training programs to ensure assigned personnel are adequately trained to perform operational AE mission.

DUTY 5: Represents the aeromedical evacuation operations function to external agencies to include wing, NAF, and HQ functional representatives, and establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships to further organizational goals.

DUTY 6: Provides squadron deployment/contingency execution oversight for mission accomplishment, including AEF tasking requirements and contingency capability sourcing in support of defense support to civil authorities (DSCA). Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities for a small workforce.

  • This position is designated as a mobility position. The incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit location on a lateral or promotion basis as directed by HQ AFRC.
  • Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

  • Incumbent may be required to work uncommon tours of duty with limited no notice.

Qualifications

THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION.
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at 36th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron (AES) with the military rank of Lt Col/O-5, AFSC: 041A3. For questions concerning military eligibility please contact the Air Force Reserve Qualification Center at 1-800-257-1212.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the lower grade, GS-11 level or equivalent. Examples of specialized experience includes planning and organizing activities of the aeromedical evacuation (AE) unit; ensuring that financial management, information systems, training and operations , communications/administration, administration and personnel to ensure optimum management of resources; providing direction to subordinates and assures internal unit integration between operational and clinical requirements to meet mission objectives; managing personnel and financial programs; reviewing operational reports and inspection results and makes determination on the need for additional, corrective or emerging training requirements based on findings, program changes or mission requirements. (To be creditable, specialized perceived must meet the above quality level requirements.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of AE mission, command relationships, operational concepts, contingency, mobility, and plans requirements.
2. Knowledge of relationships between various USAF entities, MAJCOMs, and DoD in overall planning and execution of military operations.
3. Knowledge of command, control, and communication (C3) for worldwide AE.
4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; computer skills to generate data in spreadsheets and reports.
5. Knowledge of safety, security, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
6. Ability to analyze current or projected AE operations programs, and AE program management functions, principles, and techniques.
7. Business acumen to ensure organizational mission accomplishment; must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and accountability for allocated squadron resources.
8. Ability to resolve complex issues, maintain good working relations.
9. Ability to manage/coordinate health services programs to include: logistics, facilities, finance, operations/support, human resources, patient administration, AE, communications/information systems and operational reporting systems.
10. Comprehensive knowledge of Air Force, DoD, and civilian sector operational health care systems to include, ancillary/support services, managed and contract care, medical operations and in-route medical support, and adjunct health care systems.
11. Ability to plan, organize, and direct an AE system infrastructure and medical/aeromedical operations.
12. Knowledge of medical readiness planning and training requirements and administrative staff functions.
13. Ability to plan, organize, and assign work to subordinate employees.
