The Work
The Environmental Lead is responsible for implementing and maintaining an enterprise environmental-management framework to ensure compliance across all sites and associated operations. The incumbent will develop, manage, and evaluate environmental compliance programs, manage environmental records and reporting, and provide technical and regulatory expertise on matters related to hazardous materials, waste management, spill prevention and response, occupational and environmental health (OEH), and federal, military, and host-installation environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Located in Hawaii with support for Socorro, NM and Diego Garcia NSF
- Serve as the designated client's Environmental Lead, maintaining the environmental-management framework across all sites to ensure full regulatory compliance.
- Execute program-level oversight for site environmental activities, liaising with Government stakeholders, host installations, and local site personnel.
- Develop, update, and implement environmental plans, procedures, training, records, inspection schedules, reporting deliverables, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate initiatives related to hazardous-material/waste management, spill prevention and response, permitting, environmental compliance, and OEH.
- Analyze environmental data, identify trends or deficiencies, interpret regulatory/host installation requirements, and prioritize corrective actions.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with federal, military, and host-installation environmental regulations and requirements, including inspections, audits, and special investigations.
- Establish strategies to ensure facilities are continuously prepared for official inspections and audits.
- Collaborate with site facility personnel to obtain necessary compliance data within their respective roles.
- Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to personnel on environmental management, hazardous-material handling, spill response, and other compliance-related topics.
- Coordinate with other program-level key personnel, ensuring proper cross-training and cross-site coverage to meet mission needs.
- Support after-hours incident response, inspection activities, exercises, and official reporting for environmental-related events.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, natural resources, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Equivalent senior Federal or military environmental experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- HAZWOPER, CHMM, CSP, CIH, environmental compliance, hazardous-material/waste, spill-response, or ISO 14001 credentials are preferred, as applicable.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental compliance, OEH, hazardous-material/waste management, spill response, or related environmental programs.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting Federal programs, military operations, industrial sites, or geographically dispersed operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in environmental program management, regulatory interpretation, inspections, hazardous material/waste management, spill response, OEH practices, and training.
- Demonstrated ability to lead environmental initiatives within classified, geographically dispersed mission environments.
- Top Secret/ SCI Clearance is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Working Conditions
- Professional office environment and technical environment supporting classified operations dispersed geographically across time zones.
- 24/7 operational readiness, with an expectation of occasional after-hours support for incidents, exercises, deadlines, and travel obligations.
