Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise Linux systems and network infrastructure
- Architect and support scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions
- Lead automation initiatives using SaltStack and other infrastructure automation tools
- Serve as a senior technical resource and escalation point for complex production issues
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across systems, networks, applications, and services
- Engineer and maintain Cisco and Juniper network environments to meet performance, security, and reliability requirements
- Administer and support identity management services, including FreeIPA/IPA
- Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, documentation, and operational procedures
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for infrastructure improvements and modernization
- Ensure systems and networks meet or exceed security, compliance, and operational standards
- Mentor junior engineers and foster technical growth across the team
- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams to develop solutions that meet current and future business requirements
- Participate in architecture reviews, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior engineer with deep Linux and networking expertise, strong automation skills, and a proven ability to solve complex infrastructure challenges. They possess a strong engineering mindset, thrive in highly technical environments, and are passionate about building reliable, scalable, and secure systems. Cloud experience is a plus but not required.
- 10+ years of experience in Systems, Network, or Infrastructure Engineering
- Expert-level knowledge of Linux administration in enterprise or mission-critical environments
- Strong understanding of Linux internals, including system calls, processes, memory management, filesystems, and performance tuning
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise infrastructure environments
- Hands-on experience with SaltStack (Salt) and infrastructure automation
- Experience administering identity and access management solutions, including FreeIPA/IPA
- Strong networking expertise, including:
- - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs
- - Routing and switching technologies
- - OSPF, BGP, policy-based routing, and network security
- - Cisco and Juniper network platforms
- Experience with virtualization technologies, hypervisors, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, or similar languages
- Experience developing and maintaining secure, hardened system and network configurations
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues across operating systems, network infrastructure, applications, and distributed systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education
- A relevant college degree and/or practical experience, commensurate with the position you are seeking

We believe in paying fairly and competitively based on the value each team member brings to the role. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, location, and market data. The anticipated salary range for this position is $140,000 – $180,000 annually.
