Job Description

Mechanical/Electrical Engineer

Cherokee Nation Government Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to support Cherokee and the U.S. Air Force civil engineer architect and engineering services (A&AS) support at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. This position will assist in managing the planning, programming, design, construction, real property, and environmental programs for locations managed by Malmstrom, AFB.

The Engineer applies sound mechanical or electrical engineering principles to plan, develop, review, coordinate, and support studies, designs, construction projects, and technical recommendations. The position works with CES leadership, project managers, contractors, facility managers, and mission stakeholders to deliver practical engineering solutions that support mission requirements, safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active SECRET clearance to be considered .

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Mechanical/Electrical Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide mechanical or electrical engineering support for facilities, infrastructure, utilities, sustainment, restoration, modernization, design, and construction projects.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and support engineering studies, designs, analyses, project reviews, and construction activities.
  • Apply mechanical or electrical engineering principles, standards, methods, and practices to evaluate project requirements and develop technical recommendations.
  • Review engineering designs, plans, specifications, calculations, statements of work, submittals, and related technical documentation for assigned projects.
  • Support the development of project requirements, scopes of work, cost estimates, design packages, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Analyze alternatives and recommend practical solutions to mechanical or electrical system issues affecting facilities, infrastructure, utilities, and mission operations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, construction inspectors, contractors, facility managers, and installation stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Support design reviews, construction progress meetings, site visits, project inspections, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities, as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate project records, engineering analyses, design files, technical correspondence, meeting notes, decisions, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, project briefings, correspondence, design comments, and engineering recommendations.
  • Present and explain engineering findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Lead or support multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate efforts needed to implement approved engineering recommendations.
  • Negotiate and build stakeholder agreement on engineering recommendations, including proposals involving significant resources or changes to established concepts, procedures, or facility systems.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle to conduct site visits and travel throughout MAFB and the missile field, including travel on paved and gravel roads.
  • Perform other engineering, design, construction, project-management, and CES program-support duties as assigned.


Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • SECRET Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering for the Mechanical Engineer position or Electrical Engineering for the Electrical Engineer position from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering, respectively. Relevant experience may include engineering design, facilities engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, project engineering, or related technical engineering work.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles, concepts, methods, standards, practices, and applicable codes relevant to facility and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to plan, organize, lead, or support engineering studies, designs, construction projects, and technical reviews.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret technical data; identify engineering issues; evaluate alternatives; and develop clear, practical, and supportable recommendations.
  • Ability to manage engineering processes, project files, design documentation, technical records, and other required supporting materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with management, technical personnel, contractors, mission partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical analyses, engineering reports, design comments, briefings, and recommendations.
  • Ability to negotiate complex technical issues and develop consensus on recommendations involving significant resources or changes to established designs, systems, concepts, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with military, civilian, contractor, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and electronic document-management systems. Familiarity with computer-aided design, engineering-analysis, project-management, or facilities-management systems is preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), Professional Engineer (PE), or relevant technical certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate throughout the MAFB missile field on paved and gravel roads.
