Facility Space Planner
Cherokee Nation Government Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Facility Space Planner to support Cherokee and the U.S. Air Force civil engineer architect and engineering services (A&AS) support at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. This position will assist in managing the planning, programming, design, construction, real property, and environmental programs for locations managed by Malmstrom, AFB.
The Facility Space Planner applies engineering and planning principles to evaluate how facilities are used, identify opportunities to improve space utilization, and support development and implementation of the installation's Facility Space Optimization Plan. The position works with CES leadership, facility managers, mission stakeholders, and project teams to ensure space-planning decisions align with Malmstrom's operational needs, facility standards, and long-term installation objectives.
As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active SECRET clearance to be considered .
A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Responsibilities Include:
- Support facility space management, planning, utilization, and optimization programs for the 341 CES and MAFB mission partners.
- Apply engineering, planning, and facility-management concepts, standards, methods, and techniques to assigned facility space-planning activities.
- Assist with the development, implementation, maintenance, and update of the Facility Space Optimization Plan.
- Gather, validate, organize, and analyze facility data, including building utilization, functional use, occupancy, condition, square footage, and space requirements.
- Integrate established facility space standards with building-use and utilization data to identify opportunities to optimize the installation's facility footprint.
- Evaluate facility space requirements and proposed space actions for alignment with mission needs, installation goals, applicable space standards, and facility-planning guidance.
- Conduct or support facility space studies, utilization assessments, site visits, and stakeholder interviews to identify existing and future space requirements.
- Analyze alternatives and develop recommendations for consolidation, relocation, reutilization, optimization, or other space-management actions.
- Prepare analytical reports, planning documents, briefings, charts, and recommendations that clearly interpret space standards and assess building utilization, condition, and functional use.
- Maintain accurate space-planning records, study files, data sources, decisions, action items, and supporting documentation required for mandated submissions and internal management review.
- Coordinate with CES personnel, facility managers, unit representatives, project managers, and other stakeholders to obtain data, resolve space-planning issues, and support implementation of approved recommendations.
- Plan, organize, and support working groups, studies, meetings, and reviews related to facility space planning and optimization.
- Present complex space-planning proposals and recommendations to management and stakeholders, including proposals involving significant resources or changes to established facility-use concepts and procedures.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle to conduct site visits and travel throughout MAFB and the missile field, including travel on paved and gravel roads.
- Perform other facility planning, space-management, engineering-support, and CES program-support duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- SECRET Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in community planning, space planning, urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, logistics, aeronautics, public administration, or a related discipline
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in facility space planning, space management, facilities planning, community planning, engineering planning, asset management, real property management, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of engineering and planning concepts, standards, methods, and techniques used to support facility space management, planning, utilization, and optimization programs.
- Experience or demonstrated knowledge of facility space-planning techniques and the principles used to develop or implement a Facility Space Optimization Plan.
- Ability to lead or support data-gathering efforts and integrate facility space standards with analyses of building utilization, occupancy, functional use, condition, and space requirements.
- Ability to assess the effects of facility space-planning decisions on the mission, operations, goals, and long-term requirements of MAFB.
- Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and interpret facility data from multiple sources and identify practical opportunities to improve facility use and reduce unnecessary space.
- Ability to prepare clear analytical reports, studies, briefings, and planning documentation that interpret space standards and evaluate building utilization, condition, and functional use.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and support facility space studies; document processes and findings; and maintain complete, accurate, and accessible program records.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with management, installation stakeholders, technical personnel, and mission representatives.
- Ability to present recommendations and articulate complex proposals involving substantial resources, changes in facility utilization, or modifications to established processes and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive working relationships across military, civilian, contractor, and mission-partner organizations.
- Proficiency with standard office productivity tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and electronic document-management systems. Experience with facility, asset-management, planning, mapping, or project-management systems is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate throughout the MAFB missile field on paved and gravel roads.
