Construction Inspector

Cherokee Nation Government Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support Cherokee and the U.S. Air Force civil engineer architect and engineering services (A&AS) support at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. This position will assist in managing the planning, programming, design, construction, real property, and environmental programs for locations managed by Malmstrom, AFB.

The Construction Inspector performs field inspections and provides technical support to help ensure construction work conforms to approved engineering and architectural plans, specifications, applicable codes, safety requirements, and project standards. The position works with CES personnel, project managers, contractors, and installation stakeholders to identify construction issues, document findings, and support timely resolution of routine technical and procedural matters.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active SECRET clearance to be considered .

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Conduct inspections of construction, renovation, repair, sustainment, restoration, modernization, and infrastructure projects at MAFB and throughout the missile field.
  • Review construction activities for conformance with approved plans, specifications, statements of work, applicable codes, project requirements, and established construction standards.
  • Apply practical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques, and construction practices to evaluate project work and identify deficiencies or areas requiring attention.
  • Inspect structural, electrical, mechanical, architectural, civil, and related construction elements, as assigned.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, specifications, schedules, submittals, and other technical documentation to verify construction requirements.
  • Observe contractor work practices and site conditions to support compliance with applicable construction safety practices and procedures.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and track construction deficiencies, nonconforming work, safety concerns, and recurring procedural issues.
  • Provide factual technical observations and recommendations to project managers, CES personnel, and contractors to support resolution of construction issues.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, daily logs, photographs, checklists, correspondence, deficiency records, and other project documentation.
  • Participate in site visits, progress meetings, pre-construction meetings, quality-control discussions, inspections, and project closeout activities, as assigned.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, facility managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and support timely completion of assigned work.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and project-status information clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
  • Maintain positive, professional working relationships while addressing technical issues and negotiating practical resolutions with project stakeholders.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle to conduct inspections and travel throughout MAFB and the missile field, including travel on paved and gravel roads.
  • Perform other construction inspection, engineering-support, and CES program-support duties as assigned.


Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • SECRET Clearance
  • Associate degree, technical certification, trade training, or coursework in construction management, engineering technology, architecture, building inspection, or a related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in construction inspection, construction management, engineering technician support, quality assurance, quality control, facilities maintenance, project management, or a closely related field.
  • Practical knowledge of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques, and practices related to construction activities.
  • Ability to apply established analytical and evaluative methods to inspect construction work, identify factual or procedural issues, and provide supportable recommendations for resolution.
  • Working knowledge of the electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil aspects of major construction or facility projects.
  • Knowledge of construction-industry inspection practices, quality-control practices, and site safety procedures.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, architectural plans, specifications, statements of work, and other construction documents.
  • Ability to recognize apparent construction deficiencies, nonconforming work, unsafe conditions, and deviations from project requirements and report them through appropriate channels.
  • Ability to maintain organized, accurate, and timely inspection records, reports, logs, photographs, and supporting documentation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings, prepare clear inspection reports, and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to address recurring or well-defined construction issues professionally, negotiate practical solutions, and maintain effective working relationships with government personnel, contractors, and mission partners.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and electronic document-management systems. Experience using construction-management, inspection, or project-tracking systems is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate throughout the MAFB missile field on paved and gravel roads.
