Senior QA Engineer and Tester

Remote

Blu Omega is seeking a Senior QA Engineer and Tester to support a federal program focused on health data modernization and analytics. This role operates within a remote environment and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks, supporting scalable cloud-based test environments, and driving continuous quality improvement. The position requires experience supporting complex data solutions within a mission-driven federal health environment.

The DMAC program supports health data modernization initiatives through data modeling, analytics, and application development.

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination

Salary Range: $0.00 - $162,000.00

Start Date: Estimated start date is 11/02/2026

Projected Period of Performance: through 04/22/2027, with potential for extension or permanent placement

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, maintain, and optimize automated testing frameworks for data models, analytics solutions, and applications
  • Create and support scalable test environments using cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure
  • Apply AI-enhanced testing approaches, including GitHub Copilot and agentic UI automation, to improve testing efficiency and coverage
  • Perform automated and manual testing, including functional, regression, usability, integration, and data validation testing
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and validation strategies for complex data solutions
  • Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows to enable continuous validation and early defect detection
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define testing strategies, document defects, and resolve issues
  • Validate data models, transformations, integrations, and downstream outputs for accuracy and reliability
  • Analyze test results to identify quality risks, coverage gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Maintain thorough test documentation, defect reports, and quality metrics
  • Support Agile delivery and promote automation best practices across the team

Required Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting with Python, Java, Groovy, SQL, or Bash
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing automated tests for complex applications or data solutions
  • Experience building or supporting scalable test environments in AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of AI-powered QA technologies such as GitHub Copilot or agentic UI automation
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, quality engineering, and software development lifecycle
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, data science, or related field

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MuleSoft, API platforms, or enterprise integrations
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization platforms
  • Experience with Databricks, SQL, or enterprise data environments
  • Testing experience with data models, transformations, pipelines, or analytics solutions
  • Knowledge of human-centered design, usability testing, and accessibility standards
  • Support of federal government or large-scale digital health programs

Compensation
Salary Range:
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
