HVAC Technician is needed for an onsite opportunity with SOC's client in Indian Head, MD

This is a Direct Hire opportunity

Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support with facilities projects. In this role you will perform HVAC Maintenance support such as, assisting with HVAC installations, routine maintenance, and repairs related to mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage controls. The ideal candidate should be capable of scoping, estimating, and planning for minor HVAC repair projects and must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time, on-site position. Candidates must be available for occasional travel to the federal site in Indian Head, MD. The role will involve collaboration with personnel located at the federal site as well as offices in Chantilly, VA and Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units
  • Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems
  • Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to a variety of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, package rooftops, split systems, controls, pumps, VAVs
  • Support the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completion
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests
  • Conduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements
  • Prepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project status
  • Ensure that all facilities are in compliance with applicable codes and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets


Qualifications and Skills:
  • At least 5+ years of HVAC experience and current Journeyman licensure
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery Certification
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems
  • Be familiar with a wide range of equipment and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required
  • Familiarity with state and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
  • This position will require a pre-employment physical exam
  • This position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals)
  • You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shifts
  • Must be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items
  • Must be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
  • Must be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overhead
  • Employees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment. If no reasonable accommodation is available, continued employment in the position may not be possible
