We are seeking a Senior-level Network Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific). In this role, you will provide comprehensive engineering and day-to-day operational support for physical Combined Test Bed (CTB) network environments.
You will be responsible for the integration, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and security of critical network devices and services. This position requires a deep understanding of network architecture, routing, switching, cloud connectivity, and advanced network management tools to monitor performance at both the physical and IP packet levels.
Key Responsibilities
• Infrastructure & Operational Support: Deliver end-to-end engineering and daily operational support for physical CTB network environments, including router/switch installation, firmware upgrades, STIG compliance, and performance tuning.
• Network Monitoring & Performance Analysis: Utilize enterprise network management tools (inMON Traffic Sentinel, Zabbix) to analyze and monitor performance at the physical and IP packet levels.
• Multi-Cloud Connectivity: Establish and manage connections to multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) by administering IP space, VLANs, route tables, VPCs, and virtual gateways.
• Routing, Switching & Security Hardware: Prototype, configure, and maintain hardware configurations for routing, distribution, firewalls, and boundary systems, focusing on HPE Aruba and Palo Alto platforms.
• Protocol & Tunneling Management: Configure and troubleshoot internal/external routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and secure tunneling mechanisms (IPsec).
• Access Control & Zero-Trust Implementation: Implement Network Access Control (NAC) systems and security protocols, including Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, 802.1x authentication, and Zero-Trust architectures (dynamic segmentation).
• Testing, Quality Assurance & Issue Tracking: Build network test environments, execute test plans, track issues through a corrective action system, coordinate with vendors, and conduct regression testing.
• On-Call Response: Provide non-business hours on-call support for network outages, with the ability to report on-site within two (2) hours of notification.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education & Experience:
o Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
o 10+ years of relevant network engineering experience in a senior-level role combining independent execution and team collaboration.
• Security Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance.
• Certifications (Must hold one from EACH category):
o IAT Level II Baseline: Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, SCNP, or SSCP.
o Vendor/Network Certification: CCNA, CCNP, or CCDP.
• Preferred Technical Skills:
o Hands-on experience with inMON Traffic Sentinel and Zabbix.
o Proficiency with Aruba networking solutions and Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager.
o Practical experience implementing Zero-Trust network architectures (e.g., dynamic segmentation).
