Overview:
Abacus Technology is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to provide technical leadership and expertise in network design, implementation, and optimization. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to ensure robust and secure network infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications and services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with system administrators, security teams, and application developers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Conduct network assessments, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements for scalability and reliability.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and ensure minimal downtime.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance network capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on enterprise environments.
- Proven experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP), routing and switching technologies (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), and network security tools.
- Strong understanding of network architecture, design principles, and best practices.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or CISSP.
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
- Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
