Job Description

Duties

  • Make complete arrangements for administrative meetings; locating and assembling information for various reports and designing and organizing filing systems.
  • Answer incoming phones calls, ensuring calls for department are properly referred.
  • Draft, review, and edit non-technical correspondence and presentation materials.
  • Oversee and coordinate the shipping and receiving of supplies and materials utilizing software platforms or other automated inventory tracking systems.
  • Serve as primary Defense Medical Human Resources Military Systems timekeeper.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has been designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes directing calls or visitors to appropriate personnel, providing information and assistance to customers and staff, administering various correspondence through automated systems, and managing multiple schedules and calendars.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
