SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GS-07 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
In accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M, "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification," this position has been identified as a Defense Security position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Individuals who do not meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements must obtain it within two years after the first duty day in this position. Upon appointment to this position, the selectee must also sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements, as a condition to occupy the position, and agree to permit the DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position. Additional information
- Monitors and evaluates the status of Force Protection Programs in the areas of: Information Security (INFOSEC), Industrial Security (INDSEC) and Operations Security (OPSEC).
- Conducts formal classroom training in Physical and Information Security as well as required security orientations, refresher training, and security briefings for DFAS employees.
- Implements policy and procedures regarding Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection program (AT/FP) requirements. Manages the AT/FP program requirements for DFAS - Limestone.
- Manages a comprehensive program in the development, evaluation, and maintenance of security automated systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding personnel, information, property, operations and materials.
- Responsible for managing all processes related to issuing DoD common access cards, military, retiree, and dependent ID cards; performs fingerprinting as required.
- Monitors and performs alarm system operations including Intrusion Detection Equipment (IDE), closed circuit television monitors (CCTV) and access control devices.

- One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of a (GS-05 for the GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
- (1) Assisting in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- (2) Assisting in conducting a wide range of security inspections and surveys for facilities operations; or assisting in providing advice, assistance and knowledge of security operation under supervision.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of a (GS-07 for the GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
- (1) Demonstrating experience in administering a wide range of security programs, policies, and procedures for facilities operations.
- (2) Experience in security disciplines, concepts, principles, and practices applicable to physical security, and information security programs.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of a (GS-09 for the GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
- Demonstrating a broad range of security concepts, principles, and practices in order to assess and resolve difficult security problems for an organization; utilizing technical expertise related to information or physical security to effectively implement, integrate, and administer applicable security programs in coordination with other specialized security programs.

- One full year of graduate level education or a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
