Job Description
TEKsystems is supporting a long-term opportunity for a Desktop Support Technician III supporting a large DOD Customer in Fort Meade, MD. This position is ideal for an experienced desktop support professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, end-user support, hardware refresh efforts, and working within a mission-driven Department of Defense environment.
The successful candidate will provide Tier II/III desktop support, maintain Windows-based systems, support software installations and migrations, and assist users with a variety of technical issues. This role offers strong career stability while supporting critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide Tier II/III desktop and deskside support for end users in a DoD environment.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
• Support Windows 10 workstations and Microsoft-based technologies.
• Perform hardware deployments, refreshes, upgrades, and equipment replacements.
• Assist with software installations, system migrations, and user account support.
• Diagnose and resolve email and connectivity-related issues.
• Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions within the ticketing system.
• Escalate issues when appropriate and coordinate with internal support teams.
• Maintain daily task logs, status reports, and technical documentation.
• Follow established processes and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and technical support to end users.
Required Qualifications
• Active Secret Security Clearance
• U.S. Citizenship
• CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570 Level II certification
• 3+ years of IT support experience
• Experience providing desktop/deskside support in an enterprise environment
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 10
• Experience using Remedy or a similar enterprise ticketing system
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Department of Defense environments
• Hardware refresh and migration experience
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Experience supporting enterprise applications
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and Active Directory
