Power Platform Engineer

Work Environment: Hybrid, with once-per-month onsite required
Onsite Location: Washington, DC
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance

General Description:

The Microsoft Platform Developer will support an Engineering team as part of a large, complex cybersecurity, engineering, and PMO contract for a federal customer, providing expertise toward systems engineering solutions and services across a variety of platforms and technologies. The successful candidate will provide technical support to solutioning engineer and engineering-related projects.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, with an inherent interest in continuing to learn new technologies to collaboratively solve problems.

Position Requirements:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• 3+ years creating Canvas and Model-Driven Enterprise solutions in Microsoft PowerPlatform/PowerApps including PowerBI and PowerAutomate
• Experience working in a complex lifecycle environment, using PowerPlatform Solutions and moving code between environments
• 5+ years of experience using SharePoint Online, HTML and JavaScript, SPFx (SharePoint Framework)
• Experience data modeling and building reports/dashboards/decision apps in PowerBI
• 8+ years of experience using SharePoint 2013 or newer versions, and SharePoint Designer, HTML, and JavaScript.
• 8+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).
• 2+ years of experience using the Microsoft Power Platform.
• 8+ years of experience consulting clients on potential SharePoint solutions, delivering client presentations, and translating business requirements into technical requirements.
• Familiarity with application and user testing.

Role Responsibilities & Qualifications:

● Proficient in developing and administering SharePoint solutions, preferably in SharePoint Online environments.
● SharePoint development experience (secondary focus, supporting the Power Platform work below).
● Hands-on experience with Microsoft PowerApps and Power Automate, including building custom applications, workflows, forms, and automated processes, including running activities as app user identities.
● PowerApps experience building Canvas or model-driven apps, including basing a design from an existing database.
● Experience developing data calls using REST APIs.
● Building an interface to a SharePoint backend list based on Forms or PowerApps.
● Leveraging data from an on-premises environment via Data Gateway.
● Ability to develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models — including designing and updating existing reports — that translate program data into clear, actionable insights for leadership and operational teams.
● Ability to design intuitive visual layouts and build efficient data structures, including measures and optimized model relationships, to ensure accuracy, consistency, and strong performance across all reporting products.
● Expertise to collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and update dashboards as program needs evolve, ensuring reporting tools remain relevant, user-friendly, and aligned with organizational priorities and business objectives.
● Ability to create and enhance PowerApps applications that automate routine workflows, improve data collection, and support program operations.
● Expertise to develop, maintain, and configure Power Pages with Dataverse, Power Automate, and role-based access controls to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient data handling.
● Technical skillset to integrate PowerApps with SharePoint, Dataverse, SQL, and other approved data sources, ensuring reliable data flow and adherence to security requirements.
● Expertise to document application features, data structures, and reporting logic, and provide basic user training or guidance to support adoption and effective use of developed tools.
● Ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance data visibility through improved reporting, automation, and integration within the Microsoft Power Platform, including data reconciliation, data management, and process automation to improve data accuracy.
● Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software; troubleshoots production issues related to software applications; researches, tests, builds, and coordinates the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements; evaluates effectiveness; and addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms (including SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, and Power BI).
● Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements, translating business needs into functional technical solutions.
● Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects for management; assists in evaluating and recommending application software packages and integration/testing tools; troubleshoots, remediates, and optimizes SharePoint-based issues while providing strategic recommendations to management.
● Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements; acts as team leader on projects; instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of others on the development team.
● Participates in development of software user manuals and technical reports.
● Demonstrated experience with JavaScript (not JAVA JRE).
● Demonstrated experience automating file structure changes, file management, and/or metadata updates.
