Role Highlights:
Position: Systems Administrator II
Location: San Diego, California - 100% Onsite
Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: Converting to $75,000-$80,000
Clearance Required: Active Secret
Role Overview:
This role supports a federal defense client in San Diego, maintaining and supporting the integrity, availability, and performance of IT infrastructure and operating systems across secure environments. You will perform system maintenance, manage identity and access controls, resolve technical issues, and ensure secure system configurations in support of a mission-critical program.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer Microsoft Active Directory including ADUC, DNS, GPO, and WSUS to manage accounts, memberships, and group policies across multiple environments
Support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) credential and token management leveraging DoD certificates for secure authentication and access control
Perform system maintenance tasks including backups, recovery, and file management
Acquire, install, configure, and test system software upgrades and hardware components
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across hardware, software, and network systems
Monitor system performance, conduct system testing, and ensure compliance with IT policies including STIG auditing and configuration
Support secure system configurations and maintain VPN, network, and email administration as required
Assist with licensing management, upgrades management, and IT backup procedures
Key Requirements:
Active Secret clearance
IAT Level II certification: CySA+, Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
3+ years of relevant systems administration experience
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, DNS, GPO, and WSUS
Experience with DISA STIGs and secure system configuration
Proficiency with system backup, recovery, and file management procedures
Preferred Skills:
Experience with VPN, network, and email administration
Familiarity with network security software and IT backup tools
Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills in a team-based environment
