Job Description

iGov is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Team to work primarily on the MARCENT Program. As a technology leader, you will support our overall technical solution and provide technology assessments. You will serve as an engineer and advisor to the Lead Engineer on all system engineering matters. This position supports the technical performance for systems requirements definition, engineering design, system integration, accreditation, and testing. This position may require work at government locations or at iGov's integration facility in Tampa Florida and may require travel to Government and/or contractor CONUS facilities.
Essential Responsibilities:
Accomplish project milestones
Ensure work environment meets standards for ethics, fairness and safety
Comply with time reporting and conduct timecard approvals
Adhere to project plans to include cost, and schedule
Assist, support and collaborate with peer Engineers
Evaluate and recommend new products, solutions and designs in response to requirements
Plan, design, integrate, configure, test, document and support for the entire CSfC solution
Author, manage and maintain written technical materials
Timely Attendance is an essential function of your job.
Other systems engineer related duties as required.
Design, install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) systems in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
Develop and maintain scripts and programs to automate system administration tasks, monitoring, provisioning, and routine operations.
Perform system hardening, security patching, and compliance (CIS, STIG, etc.) on Red Hat platforms.
Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues using custom scripts and tools.
Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to support infrastructure needs and integration requirements.
Manage system lifecycle, including patching, updates, and configuration consistency across environments.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide advanced troubleshooting support for production incidents.
Document architecture, procedures, scripts, and runbooks; contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring junior engineers.
Continuously improve operational efficiency through effective scripting and programming practices.
Essential Required Experience & Skills:
Astute observer with effective root cause identification and problem-solving skills
Familiar with project management approaches, project lifecycles, and tools
Prior military experience and experience in deploying tactical information technology equipment in support of military is a plus.
Ability to obtain US security clearance
Team player able to work collaboratively with and through others
Excellent active listening skills
Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal
Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
3+ years of hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in production environments.
Strong proficiency in scripting and programming for Linux systems administration (Bash required; Python strongly preferred).
Solid understanding of Linux networking, storage (LVM, multipath), and system services.
Experience writing reliable, maintainable scripts and programs for automation, monitoring, and system management.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

CompTIA Security+
CompTIA Linux+,
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA, RHCE)
Educational Requirements:
