Description:
The Space MASINT Analyst within the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) conducts advanced technical intelligence operations by exploiting, analyzing, and reporting Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) data derived from overhead and ground-based space systems. Utilizing specialized scientific and technical methods, the analyst processes complex radar, active and passive infrared, radio frequency, and electro-optical signatures to identify, track, and characterize foreign space objects, counterspace capabilities, and ballistic missile threats. Operating at the forefront of defense intelligence, this role leverages the unique capabilities of NSIC to translate raw sensor signatures into actionable, high-fidelity intelligence assessments that directly support the Department of War, combatant commands, and strategic defense planners.

The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree in a highly technical or scientific field-or equivalent professional military experience-complemented by three to five years of proven expertise in intelligence analysis, with a strong focus on space domain awareness or MASINT operations. This professional brings direct, hands-on experience utilizing orbital mechanics, sensor fusion, and photometric data analysis to exploit radar, optical, and infrared signatures. Crucially, they exhibit the advanced technical proficiency required to pilot sophisticated analytic tools for complex data processing, visualization, and change detection, while maintaining the sharp critical thinking needed to independently isolate subtle pattern anomalies under tight operational timelines. Operating as a premier representative of the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC), the successful candidate must pair this deep technical acumen with elite written and verbal communication skills to seamlessly translate intricate technical signatures into clear, high-impact briefs for collection managers, engineers, and Department of War leaders.

Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of intelligence community policies, entities, missions, resources, operations, capabilities and requirements to perform intelligence research and operations planning, collection, target analysis and/or other intelligence-related activities.
  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts and methodologies of intelligence operations, research, analysis and integration; and skill in analysis/production of reports and other products in response to the specific needs of customers to include formulating, gathering, organizing and analyzing information; resolving conflicts; and presenting clear and concise findings.
  • Skill in conducting unbiased, difficult research, identify appropriate available systems/data sources, and produce collections requirements assessments that answer specific tasks to link and leverage agency capabilities and to develop new methods, approaches, or procedures.
  • Skill in analysis and production of reports and other products that respond to specific needs of customers to include formulating, gathering, organizing and analyzing information; and presenting clear and concise findings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work, writing clear and concise intelligence products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations.
