Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Designing, estimating, ordering, tracking, installing, configuring, securing, hardening, remediating, testing, upgrading and decommissioning of data center equipment, network switches, virtual servers, physical servers, client workstations and network-attached storage equipment.
- Application support to program engineers is an essential part of the day-to-day responsibilities that ensures a successful synergy between program deliverables and the underlying IT infrastructure.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for the ongoing operations, maintenance and continuous improvement of multiple classified IT program environments.
- This IT professional will ensure that the Space IT systems are managed, controlled and compliant with the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems, and information technology related responsibilities including design, development, and analysis of computer systems or programs based on and related to user or system design specifications; applying systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that do not perform IT responsibilities, use E146, Systems Engineer.
Basic Qualifications
- Current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or III certification (i.e. CompTIA Security+, CISSP, etc.), with the ability to maintain that certification throughout the position lifecycle
- U.S. Citizenship is a requirement to work at this facility (No dual citizenship)
- Top Secret level security clearance required
- Ability to move, rack, stack and install physical equipment by lifting up to 50 lbs. independently
- Deep expertise in technical leadership, Linux server, Windows server, storage and network administration
- Extensive familiarity with IT- system engineering across both virtual/physical environments focused on Windows operating systems but will need to understand and support RHEL systems
- Significant experience with TCP/IP, IT security principles, cost estimating
- Proactive attitude, strong customer relationship management skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger technical team
- Experience with network-attached storage (NAS) or storage area networks (SAN)
Desired Skills
- Bachelors of Science degree from accredited University
- Experience with Windows Server user account management, administration and access controls
- Systems Administration experience supporting United States Government classified environments
- Experience in applying DISA STIGs and resolving security vulnerabilities
- Experience administering Microsoft's Windows Server (i.e. 2019, 2022, or 2025) operating system functions, security policies and technical security safeguards
- Experience with Scripting and Automation (i.e., Ansible, Perl, Bash, Shell Scripting, PowerShell, etc.).
- Fundamental understanding of the OSI model
- Fundamental understanding of authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, LDAP and NTLM and use of necessary tools to troubleshoot them
- Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, NFS, FTP, Telnet and SSH
- Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, KVM) or Hyper-V
- Demonstrated experience with Cisco switching technology
- Experience with network-attached storage or storage area networks
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification equivalent or higher
- VMware Certified Professional certification
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
- Experience with audits of key IT components to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
