Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin's outstanding Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. The Life Extension 2 (LE2) team is an organization within the greater FBM program which supports the development of the Next Generation System by developing concepts, researching, and maturing technologies to support the development of the next FBM Missile System.
Lockheed Martin (LM) is looking for a dedicated Systems Engineer to become a member of the Safety Integration Team. As the Safety Integrator Engineer, you will:
• Provide integration support to System Safety Engineering, interfacing with groups across the FBM program.
• Maintain a working familiarity with LM/FBM safety policies, procedures and requirements.
• Liaison between IPT leads, System Safety Engineering and Safety Integration to ensure safety is aware of projects and IPT leads are in contact with appropriate safety POCs.
• Coordinate and convene Safety Review Boards of various levels of involvement with project teams to assess the safety of the program/project.
• Engage with the Safety Review Board coordinator(s) to ensure milestones are met and proper SMEs are identified to support the board and ensure Safety Review Board Meetings are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
• Be the Safety Review Team (SRT) Lead and assemble teams of engineers/SMEs of various disciplines to evaluate safety posture/readiness of a project and escalate concerns/recommendations.
• Work closely with your Navy counterpart, FBM Safety community, and senior leadership to develop, integrate, and field a strategic process for safety integration across the FBM portfolio.
• Manage the SRB process and schedule for multiple projects at a time.
• Engage with project teams in the proposal stage to determine the extent of safety involvement.
• Review and adjudicate Entrance and Exit Criteria (EEC) prior to Technical Reviews to ensure the proper safety topics and objective evidence are applied to the project.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.
Basic Qualifications
• Prior and/or current FBM working practices/experience
• Experience with the Systems Disciplines in one or more of the following areas:
a) Systems Engineering
b) Systems Safety Engineering
c) Reliability Engineering
d) Knowledge of missile systems
• Experience with project schedules and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs)
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required
Desired Skills
• Experience with the Systems Disciplines in one or more of the following areas:
a) Range Safety
b) Nuclear Safety
c) Reentry Vehicles
d) Payload Integration
• Ability to organize/plan activities for multiple projects at a time (multitasking)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams, build strong relationships with team members and build consensus among peers
• Ability to adapt/respond to changes in projects' scope, baseline, and schedules
• Consolidation/summarization for drafting and presenting assessments (rolling up feedback into high level assessments)
• Active Top Secret clearance
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00
