Role Title: Network Administrator
Location: Dahlgren, VA (100% Onsite)
Clearance: Active TS/SCI (or TS/SCI Eligible)
Role Overview
Join our defense team supporting the critical Space Domain Awareness mission at the 19th Space Defense Squadron (19 SDS). In this role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize mission-critical communication lines, local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), and specialized COMSEC infrastructure. Your work directly enables real-time data flow between 19 SDS and the global Space Surveillance Network (SSN), supporting the warfighter around the clock.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Administration: Perform daily setup, maintenance, and monitoring for NIPRNet and SIPRNet infrastructure to guarantee network availability, throughput, and operational readiness.
Hardware & Infrastructure Support: Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot Juniper and Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, 802.1X security appliances, and related hardware components.
Security & Compliance: Implement Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIGs and Computer Network Defense (CND) requirements. Submit firewall exemption rules and documentation via the Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) framework.
Physical Layer & Cable Maintenance: Install, terminate, test, and repair copper and fiber-optic cabling. Maintain rack configurations, grounds, power routing, and peripheral hardware.
Incident & Change Management: Utilize NIPR/SIPR REMEDY accounts under the Change Management role to track, isolate, and resolve network outages or degradation promptly.
Facility & Systems Support: Assist with public address (Bogen TPU250) system configurations and liaise with DISA and base infrastructure teams regarding upgrades, facility mods, and future integration efforts.
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience: High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 1–3+ years of experience in network administration, system operations, or contractor support environments.
Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship with an active TS/SCI security clearance (or demonstrated eligibility for immediate TS/SCI readmission).
Core Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience maintaining LAN/WAN systems, Cisco/Juniper routing and switching equipment.
Proficiency in physical cable installation, fiber optic repair, and cable management standards.
Familiarity with classified information handling, COMSEC processes, and STIG compliance.
Operational Readiness: Ability to support mission-essential operations, including 24/7/365 emergency on-call response for critical system outages.
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent).
Familiarity with the Space Surveillance Network (SSN), satellite catalog operations, or USSF/USSPACECOM environments.
