Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado is searching for a Network Technician to support CFC/S2 (GG-2210-12).
Description:
Installation and integration of sensitive equipment in support of Special Networks and JRIC (JOINT Reserve Intelligence Center) by the United States' Defense Intelligence Agency and use across the Department of Defense, Department of State, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice.
Ideal Candidate:
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots complex network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators. Develops and implements configuration management plans which ensure optimization of connectivity between remote sites throughout the installation. Develops and maintains local procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation. Implements the network operating systems and/or network application software. Conducts testing of network to ensure that current release of software products are in use and to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards. Monitors the operation of networks and ensures that hardware and network operating software are functioning properly and that operation standards are met. Function tests the hardware and network operating software to resolve technical problems and makes the appropriate on-site repairs. Provides ongoing support, resolution of complex problems and operating malfunctions involving various hardware components and network operating software failures. Performs system backups to ensure expedient restoration of the database for the respective network equipment. Recommends and prepares operating policies and procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation. Assists LAN/WAN users in effective application of network capabilities. Ensures network survivability by developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements.
2. Knowledge of the network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols typically found at base level.
3. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems.
4. Knowledge of complex configuration management techniques, and requirements appropriate to managing base level network systems.
5. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems; and to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and computer applications from an operational perspective.
6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- PCS and Incentives funding is available.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
