Mechanical Engineer

This position requires onsite work at Tucson, AZ and an active Secret security Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.

Solidus is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and production of critical defense hardware. This role oversees engineering activities from concept through manufacturing, drives system integration, and provides hands-on technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams while ensuring alignment with program goals and timelines.

Day in the Life:

• Lead the hardware design, development, and production realization of critical defense systems
• Drive engineering efforts across the product lifecycle, from initial concept definition through detailed design, transition to production, and sustained production support
• Provide technical execution oversight and leadership to small to mid-sized multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Execute system integration tasks, ensuring robust mechanical and electrical interfaces across sub-assemblies
• Partner with cross-functional organizations, program offices, and partner stakeholders to align hardware development with overall project objectives and timelines
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• 5 + years of relevant software engineering experience
• Proven experience spanning the full hardware lifecycle, including concept definition, detailed design, factory transition, and ongoing production support
• Hands-on expertise utilizing modern 3D CAD design tools alongside related product data management (PDM) systems
• Cultural fit amongst a collaborative team environment

Desired Skills:

• Direct experience in the design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, shelter assemblies, or power distribution equipment packaging
• Demonstrated background leading small to mid-sized technical teams with a focus on project execution and technical guidance
• Self-driven leadership style with a proven track record as a collaborative team player, showcasing strong communication and positive interpersonal interactions in a complex teaming environment
