Job Description
LightGrid is hiring for a Network Test Engineer Senior to work in Fort Meade, MD. Active SECRET Clearance is required.
Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for testing engineering solutions for network initiatives. The candidate will also review engineering designs, implementation plans, and support Tier III activities.
• Provide technical expertise in design review, lab testing & test report, implementation plan and deployment of new advanced large-scale complex DoW networks.
• Design engineering enhancements, develop engineering change requests and provide all required documentation in support of Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
• Support mission partners to satisfy the interoperability requirements.
• Evaluate analytically and systematically problems of workflows and network usage, organization and planning and develop appropriate corrective action.
• Analyze existing and planned network solutions and architectures and make recommendations.
• Configure various routers, switches, firewalls.
• Utilize advanced security devices including network encryptors.
• Apply system patches, configuration changes, security patches and third-party updates to maintain systems at a high level of performance, availability, and security.
• Develop detailed test plans, test reports, implementation plans, configuration guides and other technical documentation.
• Deliver timely resolution and document troubleshooting procedures to mitigate impact of issues and improve infrastructure performance.
• Perform incident response tasks and services restoration.
• Assess and analyze current network architecture; propose and analyze potential solutions.
• Review security requirements set by DoW agencies for unclassified network protection.
• Review security threats to the current DoW infrastructure, architecture, and technology and determine effective countermeasures.
• Provide support to the Automation Team.
• Provide on-call Tier III support as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline, e.g., IT Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• Security + certification or equivalent 8570 IAT II certification
• 10 years of network systems engineering experience
• DoW and/or Government program experience preferred.
• Laboratory testing experience using tools such as Wireshark, Kiwi-Syslog, SNMP/Traps, for testing/troubleshooting network traffic.
• Multiple network types, primarily Internet Protocol (IP) and Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN).
• Routing protocols and IP network services experience to include BGP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, Layer-2/Layer-3 Virtual Private Network (VPN), IPsec.
• Hardware/software interface equipment integration/setup (chassis, card, module, and optics) and power requirements of each of the following devices to integrate for transport: Cisco and Juniper routers.
• Ability to work along with no or little assistance to complete equipment testing.
• Ability to work in a group to achieve the common goal to resolve complex network issues.
• Ability to work directly with the prime contractor project team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate test plans and reports with Government and equipment vendors.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio technical drawing program.
