The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC's forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls; manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45).

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Engineering Technician IV provides technical operations, maintenance, inspection, testing, documentation, and logistics support for MK 30 underwater vehicles and associated equipment in a secure Navy operational environment on the Hawaii Detachments Support Services contract. This role supports vehicle readiness, launch and recovery operations, technical certifications, and coordination with Government personnel and surface craft crews while ensuring compliance with DoD procedures, safety, security, and quality requirements. This position is located in Polaris Point, Guam.

What You'll Do
  • Participates in production status meetings, provides status reports, and updates the vehicle status board.
  • Processes underwater vehicles and components in accordance with technical procedures for vehicle turnaround and planned maintenance provided by DoD program offices.
  • Performs inspection and testing on vehicle hardware and software; requests Government concurrence for troubleshooting actions and provides reports at each occurrence in accordance with established procedures.
  • Verifies, updates, and tracks battery status and precious metals from silver-zinc batteries; maintains records in Government databases and provides status reports on the 15th day and last working day of each month.
  • Maintains the required vehicle documentation package throughout the process and provides it to the Government no later than two business days prior to scheduled operations or one business day prior to target transport.
  • Supports vehicle offload and pickup from surface crafts, aircraft, or trucks; assists with preparation and loading of launch and recovery equipment onto launch craft.
  • Obtains and maintains required certifications, including Forklift 15K Operator License, Navy Crane Center Category III Crane Certification, and required MK 30 certifications.
  • Progresses toward and ultimately qualifies as MK 30 Surface Launch Master; performs surface craft launch master functions for on-range and open-ocean operations once qualified.
  • Supports logistics and material management actions as needed, including storeroom support, HAZMAT control, inventory, and movements of vehicles and equipment within the operating site.
  • Adheres to all safety, security, operations security (OPSEC), environmental, and quality requirements while working in industrial, waterfront, and underway surface craft environments.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • At least three (3) years of progressive experience as an engineering technician, electronics technician, mechanical technician, or related technical role in a DoD, Navy, industrial, or marine environment.
  • Certifiations (can obtain after date of hire):
    • Forklift 15K Operator License, Navy Crane Center Category III Crane Certification, Surface Launch Master Qualification, and required MK 30 system certifications.
  • Practical skills in mechanical and electrical/electronic inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and basic repair using hand tools, multimeters, and related test equipment.
  • Forklift and Crane (Category 3) certifications within three months of hire.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial, waterfront, and underway surface craft environments while adhering to all safety, security, environmental, OPSEC, and quality requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel Required: ~10% travel required.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.


INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $26.94 - $35.75 per hour.
