Job Description
DCS is seeking a Senior General/Interdisciplinary Engineer to support the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Electronic Systems PEO (AFLCMC/ES) within the Force Protection Division (ESS). In this role, you will lead and execute the modernization, design, development, testing, fielding, and sustainment of key hardware and software systems across the ESS portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
Design & Architecture
▪ Lead and execute technical activities across all acquisition phases, from material solution analysis through operation and support.
▪ Prepare key systems engineering documentation, including Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and Systems Engineering Plans (SEP).
▪ Plan and lead technical reviews, assessments, and interchange meetings, including Critical Design Reviews (CDR) and Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA).
▪ Conduct architectural analyses and state-of-the-art assessments using traditional methods or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
▪ Maintain system baselines, architecture, and interoperability requirements.
▪ Translate DoD user requirements into detailed system design, testing, and evaluation specs.
▪ Evaluate simulator designs, technical documentation, and system training equipment requirements.
Acquisition Support
▪ Implement robust DoD acquisition and sustainment systems engineering processes across product lifecycles.
▪ Draft and review program specifications for items, processes, and materials.
▪ Leverage digital engineering, MBSE, and simulation tools to optimize performance and validate test results.
▪ Prepare and integrate milestone review artifacts and compliance reports per DoD/USAF policies.
▪ Review contractor drawings and Technical Data Packages for accuracy, completeness, and ASME compliance.
Technical Management & Execution
▪ Oversee requirements definition, integration, verification, validation, risk management, and configuration management.
▪ Facilitate the transfer of best practices, lessons learned, and technical insights across customer and contractor teams.
▪ Conduct market research, root cause analyses, and trade studies regarding cost, schedule, and system performance.
▪ Perform engineering performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, and risk trade-off studies.
▪ Develop Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), lead test readiness reviews, and execute developmental and operational testing.
▪ Support integrated logistics, maintenance data collection, technical order management, and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) solutions.
Qualifications & Requirements
Clearance & Citizenship
▪ U.S. Citizenship required.
▪ Active Secret security clearance (must be maintainable).
Education & Experience
▪ Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university plus 12 years of related experience (with at least 5 years in DoD); OR 15 years of directly related engineering experience (with at least 8 years in DoD).
Technical & Professional Skills
▪ Proven experience supporting complex engineering and technical efforts within DoD acquisition environments.
▪ Hands-on experience with USAF command and control reporting systems, tactical radars, shelters/radomes, radios, EW systems, or threat emitters.
▪ Network engineering experience within a DoD environment (preferably command and control).
