We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as an Aerospace Mechanical Technician, Senior to work out of Ft. Eustis, VA.

*CONTINGENT UPON AWARD*

PAY: $38.00-$45.00/hr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Perform aerospace/mechanical technician tasking in support of Army aircraft and associated mission equipment.
  • Conduct fabrication and assembly of electrical and mechanical components to perform system development, test preparation, and test execution of various components and elements related to R&D and flight test applications.
  • Provide input to aid in the development of electrical and mechanical systems, components, harness designs, mechanical designs, and installation methods to achieve manufacturability, airworthiness, and operational sustainment.
  • Participate in design reviews, drawing reviews, aiding in component selection, assembling wiring harnesses, setting up bench tests, installing aircraft wiring, mechanical mounting, configuring test fixtures, test monitoring, and adhering to quality control requirements IAW military and other appropriate engineering standards.
  • Provide testing support including selection of components, test stand maintenance, calibration, and operation of test equipment. Plan for future test efforts by monitoring program execution, and documenting program results.
  • Provide flight testing support and test services as required to support Government projects and/or test events.
  • Perform structural test, ballistic test, component failure, and environmental qualification for various aircraft components. Set-up and execution of these is required and may include aircraft mechanical component fabrication and sheet metal mechanic support for both standard and nonstandard systems and subsystems.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and installing mechanical systems and subsystems into aviation platforms IAW with CDA&E approved procedures. Coordination with project leads, aircraft maintenance, and TIs are required for proper integration, communication of status, and issues/conflicts.
  • Operate common powered and non-powered tools to include but not limited to hand and pneumatic tools, drills, and other mechanical specialty tools.
  • Assist with equipment packing and movement as per mission requirements.
  • Support flight duties as required based upon Mission needs.
  • Oversee efforts of technical and less senior staff for the implementation of duties listed above.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of eight years of experience as an aerospace/mechanical technician with knowledge of aircraft airframe repair and fabrication techniques.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with Army logistics and supply system for aviation related parts and components.
  • Minimum of five years of experience supporting the structural testing of aircraft parts and components.
  • Must be able to pass an FAA III Class or military Class III flight physical annually and provide a copy of your last DA Form 759 closeout performing flight duties as a qualified non-crewmember as per AR 95-20, AR 95-1 and TC 3-04.11, Commander’s Aviation Training and Standardization Program.
  • Must be able to qualify for participation in night flights and the use of NVGs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ten years of experience as an aerospace/mechanical technician in a US Army Aviation R&D environment is highly desired.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High School diploma or High School equivalency certificate.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE: Secret

TRAVEL: 25%
