Key Requirements :


Be a U.S. citizen.  Be at least 21 years old.  Be able to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.  Be able to obtain an appropriate medical clearance.  Must have a valid driver’s license.  Must have a highly developed sense of customer service.  Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.  Be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time.  The candidate must be available to work irregular hours.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


The candidate must have the abilities to perform all of the essential duties listed below.  This list is neither exhaustive nor in priority order:


  • Maintains and repairs multiple Avaya/Nortel Key, Cisco/avaya VoIP, and PBX telephone systems

  • Working knowledge of Element Management Cisco Unity Voice/Auto attendant, and IVG

  • Performs routine moves, additions, and changes on all assigned systems

  • Maintains Call Pilot Voice Mail System, Call Accounting System, and threat Recording System

  • Maintains documentation including cable records, routing records and maintenance logs, inventory of equipment and recommends replacement spares or additions

  • Installs or replaces cable, adds jacks and terminates cable on frames

  • Responds to and completes IRM/work orders issues by the Embassy Help Desk

  • Must be able to adapt to other specialized equipment



Qualifications and Specialized Experience Requirements:


Qualifications listed below are for the optimal candidate. Consideration will be given to candidates who can show expertise and experience with other vendor systems.  Technical degrees and Vendor certifications are welcomed but experience and a proven track record with the equipment are the primary criteria for hiring.


  • A Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience with Nortel/Avaya CS1000 and Legacy Nortel Meridian PBX and electronic key systems. (BCM/Norstar)

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with Call Pilot voice mail and Application Builder software.

  • Experience with the installation and use of Optivity Telephony Manager (OTM), Telephony Manager (TM), or other Nortel/Avaya enhanced interface software.

  • Experience with Call Accounting systems including Phoneware Call Bill.

  • Must have experience with E1 ISDN DID telephone circuits, POTS analog telephone trunks, E and M tie lines and ability to install and trouble shoot all circuit types.

  • Ability to program and trouble shoot all Avaya/Nortel telephone sets including M3000 series and VOIP.

  • Familiarity with programming and troubleshooting Ethernet switches.

  • Experience with copper cabling, Fiber Optic cabling

  • Basic knowledge of networking, IP routing, and DHCP servers.



  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
